What to Expect

At South Alabama Spay and Neuter Center, we specialize in sterilization procedures.  Our doctor has been performing high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter procedures since her third year of veterinary school, a total of over 6 years.  The spay and neuter surgical procedures are the same procedures performed by any veterinarian.  Our doctor has been performing them on a high volume level to perfect her skills for these two procedures.

When your pet arrives at our hospital, this is what can be expected for their typical day.  One of our receptionists will check your pet in and get their weight.  Your pet will then be transported to our treatment area for pre-surgical evaluation.  If there are no contraindications for surgery, your pet will then be pre-medicated.  This means your pet will receive a dose of medication that relaxes them.  After your pet is relaxed, he/she will then be given medication to induce general anesthesia.  Your pet will be monitored during their surgery, both electronically and by a trained professional.  A technician or assistant will remain with your pet during their recovery (wake-up) period.  All pets receiving surgery at South Alabama Spay and Neuter Center receive a 24 hour pain management injection and additional medications to take home are available for a small fee.  All surgical patients go home the same day.

We have many inquiries as to how we can provide the same service at a discounted price compared to a full-service private practice.  We are able to do this because we do not have the same overhead as a full-service practice and we are a volume-based clinic.  We do not sacrifice quality.
